New, "Stage 8" 268cc Drag Racing Engine!
We start with EC's new 268R Bottom End Kit, opening up the oiling
hole between the lifters to 17/64 and sealing off the oil passage/
vent (a known failure point for head gaskets on large bore engines)
in the block deck. We then add a Dyno 335 cam and ditch the
stock cast sidecover for an ARC Billet with large 3/8 crankcase
vent to compensate. A Cometic full face compression ring head
gasket with a thin smear of Hondabond RTV and head studs help
keep this monster sealed.
As with our Stage 7, we use Gage Motorsports race proven
Warhead but opt for the 32/28 valve combo, finished with 60#
duals, Ti retainers and Gage Black Venom 1.3 ratio roller rockers
hiding under a billet valve cover. A genuine Mikuni 28mm flatslide
carb, tuned for alcohol by Blossom Racing sucks air through a port
matched intake manifold. A Mikuni fuel pump supply's the fuel.
For the ignition system we use our Hot Coil and ARC'S new 6669
finless "drag" billet flywheel.
This is an alcohol burning, 3" stroker monster built for drag racing.
Our Stage 7 236 running on M5 put down 27HP on our dyno.
30HP should be within reason on this 268. 13.8:1 compression.
